The decision to consume raw or undercooked eggs is totally your responsibility (including all potential health consequences), which I am not responsible for. Note that undercooked eggs are not recommended for infants, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with a compromised immune system. To prevent undercooked eating eggs, avoid any kind of egg prepared with a partially or fully runny yolk. To avoid the risk of salmonella, use pasteurized eggs only.

1. Preparation:

1.1.

Just simply place the egg into boiling water for about 5 – 6 minutes (or for about 9 – 10 minutes if you are starting the eggs in cold water).

1.2.

Serving:

a.

Soft-boiled eggs can be eaten in the shell after the top of the egg is carefully removed (crack the top off with the top of the spoon or cut the top off with a small serrated knife or a steak knife).

b.

Or you can let them slightly cool in cold water (just for 2 – 3 minutes until the shell gets a little cooler), and then carefully peel ½ of the shell and carefully remove from the second ½ using a small coffee spoon. This version of a soft-boiled egg is perfect for salads, in soups, or on top of steak or fish.
