Let me introduce myself

My name is Tom Slepicka, and I’m the founder of CookingHub and CookingHub Foundation.

I graduated from culinary school in the Czech Republic, and I live in Iowa, USA, with my wife, Maggie, and our daughters, Lily and Maisie.

I have spent a big part of my life in the food industry, holding chef and managerial positions. I’m a former catering owner and restaurateur.

I’m a food writer, recipe creator, culinary instructor, moderator, and restaurant and hotel consultant.

I always felt very lucky that I could live in a place with clean water and good healthcare, and a place where I would never be hungry. The last is especially close to my heart because some of my ancestors were not always so fortunate. As I grew up, I often listened to stories from before WWII, when my grandfather, his siblings, and his parents often didn’t have any food for days at a time. These stories were even stronger because my great-grandma often took in orphans and shared with them the little food they had. These stories had a big impact on me and who I became. From the moment I started making money, I have found it very important to donate to all sorts of charities.

Now I’m bringing you CookingHub. A self-sufficient, one-of-a-kind recipe, education, and social platform whose goal is to be the premiere recipe and cooking content platform for home and professional chefs. CookingHub will bring innovative and never-seen-before capabilities and functionality that go beyond the normal recipe-driven website and will help to spread the joy of cooking across the globe.

CookingHub has been operated by the non-profit organization CookingHub Foundation since January 2024 (501c3 status pending). While we are waiting for approval of 501c3 status, we are focusing on fine-tuning the CookingHub platform as well as on implementing many new features. After approval, the full operation will start with the mission to give proceeds to one of the most important charitable causes in the world – the fight against hunger. CookingHub users will make the world a better place just by enjoying recipes on CookingHub. Join us, enjoy and share recipes, and help us make a difference!
