Deep Fryer

A deep fryer will make deep frying much easier and more consistent, but it is also another piece of equipment that costs money and takes space in the kitchen.

Pot with Thermometer

Use a medium (or preferably larger) saucepan or sauce pot with enough oil to make sure that food will be able to be fully immersed during deep frying and deep fry thermometer.
