Strawberries Through the Ages
Strawberries have a long and fascinating history, dating back to ancient Roman times. They were prized for their medicinal properties and were even used as a symbol of love and fertility. In medieval Europe, strawberries were cultivated in monastery gardens and considered a delicacy.
With the discovery of the Americas, new strawberry varieties were introduced to Europe, leading to the development of the modern garden strawberry we enjoy today. Strawberries quickly became a popular fruit, enjoyed fresh, in desserts, and even used to flavor wine.
